Chronicle · Prologuesummer 2026

How it all began

Mypex is our game with its own server and its own client. This chronicle tells how, over nine weeks, Anarchy — the main mode of today's Mypex — grew out of flat placeholder worlds.

Mypex existed before

Mypex has had its own players for a long time. The old server had a hub on a floating island, survival, islands, mini-games and clans. In the summer of 2026 we decided to build the game anew — entirely with our own hands: our own server and our own client, our own world behavior and our own art. The old server stayed nearby as a reference: we looked at how things worked there, carried over what players loved, and left behind what kept breaking.

By the end of July the new client was already alive. Other players ran around in it with their own skins, and chat, digging, health and hunger, creative mode, third-person view, soft lighting and translucent water all worked. Voice chat already worked too, with voices quieter from far away and heard from the right side. You could already record your game, rewind it and save a video. And you could play right in the browser.

Four modes

Anarchy is the main mode today. A huge wild world where almost everything is allowed: you can fight everywhere except peaceful places, items drop on death, TNT breaks blocks, and claims don't protect against explosions. Here you'll find clans and bounties, the Buyer and the auction, events and raid bosses, quests and enhancements you win for experience from the Cutter. When you join the game, you land right here.

Survival is a calm mode with its own claims, cooking, church weddings and peaceful life. Islands — everyone gets their own island. Zombie Rush is an arena where zombie waves come one after another. These three modes are waiting their turn for now: their worlds and players' items are intact, and they'll come back when we get to them.

The wild world: a river among hills and trees, animals grazing in a meadow.
The Mypex wild world. Every hill, river and meadow here was built by our generator.

All our own

We have a simple rule: everything the player sees is our own. Our own names for creatures and items, our own icons and models. The top tiers of gear are amethyst and iridium, the powers of weapons and armor are called enhancements, and healing and combat drinks are flasks and vials. The game's texts are translated into fifteen languages — line by line, without online translators.

How to read this chronicle

The chronicle starts on the evening of July 31, when we put the server and client together into one whole. Then come eight chapters, one per week, up to October 2, when Anarchy opened to players. Each chapter is the story of a week: what we came up with, what broke, what we found and what we decided. Some of it still lives in the game today, some of it we later redid — and that's honestly written down too.

After the launch, the story continues in the updates feed — by week and by day.
