Sky, clouds and wings
A real sky overhead, an eternal sunset at spawn, and soon wings on your back. This is work in progress: the sky is almost done, the wings still need polishing, and none of it is in the game yet.
The shots below are work in progress, not the final look.
The sky that wasn't there
“Even on high settings it doesn't look cool enough” — that was the verdict on the sky and lighting. And on low and normal settings, which most players use, there was no sky at all, just a flat pale fill: no sun, no clouds, no stars.
Now there's a sky at every graphics setting: the sun and moon, sunsets, soft rounded clouds that cast shadows on the ground, warm light and foliage that glows when the sun shines through it. At night you can see stars — everywhere except the very lowest setting.

An eternal sunset at spawn
The Anarchy spawn map will always have a sunset — time there stops a few minutes before the sun goes down. And when you teleport, the new map's light will arrive together with the map: before, a new world would sit under the old sky for a second or two and only then “switch over”.
Wings
You've been able to glide with wings since September, but you couldn't see them on the player. Now there are three kinds: “Wings” — pink and feathered, “Fairy Wings” — like a butterfly's, and “Night Wings” — dark purple and webbed. On the ground they're folded behind your back, when you glide they spread out, in flight they flap, and sparks trail behind them. The two new kinds can't be obtained yet.
Right now we're fixing how they sit on the back, and we'll show shots once the wings look right.
