Plots: all the gear is now three-dimensional

We've remade all the gear in Plots. Each of the 249 items is now a three-dimensional model: we drew three versions of every item and kept the best one. Here's what changed.

Weapons and bows

Blades and cleavers aren't flat pictures anymore: they have thickness, a guard and a hilt. In your hand you hold the same model you see on the inventory icon, and a giant's sword is clearly longer in your hand than a dagger.

Bows are held with the arc facing away from you, and when you draw one, the string pulls back to the arrow.

Armor shows on your character

Before, any Plots armor looked like a plain layer of iron or leather on the player. Now 42 sets and single pieces are worn as their own models: you can see ice, cloaks, horns, crystals and glowing cracks.

Tools

Pickaxes, drills, axes, hoes and garden knives, 41 tools in all, are now three-dimensional too and sit in your hand as models. On axes and hoes, the working edge faces the same way as on the tools you're used to.

Charms, items and compressed materials

Charms, rings, backpacks, keys and other items got new icons, which we take straight from the models.

Compressed materials and blocks show at a glance what they're made of: the brick carries the icon of the raw material itself, like a carrot, sugar cane, a fish or string.

Items in your hand

We've redone how an item sits in your hand and how it moves: the idle pose, the swing when you hit, digging, eating, drawing a bow, loading a crossbow and casting a fishing rod. This works in every mode.

• New bags. The Starter Bag: Forest holds logs of six kinds of wood, and the Starter Bag: Livestock holds chicken, feathers, leather, pork, mutton and rabbit. The Forester sells the first one and the Graintrader sells the second, 1,000 coins each. If you gather a lot, there are compressed bags too.
• You can now make planks from any kind of log.
• If you die with your inventory open, the Respawn button works again.
