How to get a rare monster in Swarm

Swarm has about fifty kinds of monsters in five rarities — from common to mythic. Here are all the ways to get a rare one and make it stronger.

Eggs for honey

Eggs are the main source of monsters. You buy them with honey, along with tools and bigger bags. An egg hatches a random monster, and you'll often get the same one again — that's by design.

Each zone's clutch

Every zone of the archipelago has its own clutch — an egg that hatches the species living there. The first time you enter a new zone, you get one of these eggs as a gift. New zones open once your swarm grows to the right size, and the far ones need a bigger bag. A clutch only gets more expensive from your own purchases of that exact clutch.

Mini-bosses and events

The Fluffling shows up once an hour on the Daisy Meadow, and you can beat it on your own: a win gives honey and a chance at a Spotted Egg. The Sleepy Boulder wakes up twice an hour — it gives honey, an egg and an amulet. A minute before the start, the game calls you itself: a card with a “Follow” button appears on screen.

Merging: three of a kind make one stronger

Three identical monsters merge into one of the same kind, but stronger, with a colored frame. Three of those give the next frame. When you have lots of identical ones, the “Merge all” button in the hive saves the day. A legendary monster gathers more than even a common one with a golden frame: ×30 against ×26.

Build your swarm for your field

Fields come in white, red and blue, and so do monsters: a red swarm gathers better on red fields, a blue one on blue fields. Far fields give more than near ones. Grow your swarm for the field where you want to farm.

The handbook has the answers

The handbook lists every monster, mob, zone and field: what drops where and how to get there. The “Show the way” button puts a marker on the map.
